Structural Engineer

Global Design Midwest, Ltd. has an excellent opportunity for an experienced Structural Engineer based in our NW Indiana / Chicagoland office. We are a small but growing structural engineering firm that specializes in a wide variety of unique analysis and creative design structural engineering projects. The ideal candidate will have: 
 An Illinois SE (Structural Engineer) – or-
 An Indiana PE License with a Structural Background willing to get an Illinois SE (Structural Engineering) License under our current licensed Illinois SE
 7+ years experience performing structural design/analysis on an array of light/heavy industrial-related projects
 Perform structural design/analysis for various structural materials including steel, reinforced concrete, wood, and masonry
 Experience using 3D structural analysis/design software (STAAD Pro)
 Be familiar with design codes as they are applicable to structural work  IBC, AISC, ACI, OSHA
 Work directly with Cad designers overseeing the preparation of CAD construction documents, preparing detail sketches as required, reviewing CAD documents for accuracy prior to issue,
 Strong written and verbal communication skills and experience interfacing directly with customers
 Field experience obtaining as-built measurements, accurately documenting existing conditions on sketches, visual inspection and evaluation of existing structures
 Be able to prepare written structural condition reports that may include load rating analysis, physical condition assessment, repair and/or replacement recommendations
 Ability to prepare engineering estimates for projects, and perform work within budgets
 Be physically capable of measuring and collecting information from an industrial setting
 Currently reside in the Chicagoland /NW Indiana area or willing to relocate
